Yesterday was a very difficult and challenging day for me. I have no idea what today holds. But, God reminds me that we never really do.

However, God does know. And, He has gone before us.

For me, my experience yesterday was awkward, unsettling, disconcerting and rife with uncertainty. I felt my situation was unfair in a number of ways. This much I knew: I was in control of nothing, plans I had made adrift and work I had done appearing to evaporate before my very eyes. I lunged into God seeking refuge. I prayed from my wrenched heart, crying out.

In Genesis 41, Pharaoh needed someone to interpret a troubling dream. His wise men and magicians were clueless. When Pharaoh called upon Joseph, he gave the king the true meaning to his dream, but made it clear that the answer came from God.

Likewise, we should seek the Lord for answers--not make up ones that are self-serving or otherwise politically correct. Such responses are often doomed to failure because they are not based on God’s plan, nor do they rely on faith. Whether it’s a troubling dream, a financial concern, or an unsolvable family problem, we must always ask God for the answer.

Dear Savior, during times of uncertainty, I will wait in prayer until I receive Your reply. Your answer is the only one I truly need. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

EDITOR's NOTE: I love reading Psalm 91. Sometimes I read it over and over. It reminds me time and again just how God loves me and cares for me. For Me. He is a God so large, so magnanimous, and I can't help but think how busy He must always be. Busy with really important things, too. Every day I do things that I know are wrong. I can't imagine all the things I do wrong that God is aware of and yet I have no idea. And, of course, then there are the attacks. It may sound paranoid, but it is really not. There is an enemy. While the enemy no longer holds the title deed to this world we live in, he still exercises control over its systems. And He will continue to do so until Jesus Christ returns to earth at his second coming. Psalm 91 reminds me that there is a refuge for me; that the refuge is God himself. . . When I was growing up, I lived on a lake. Okay, so it was really a pond. But it was a big pond. Several acres, in fact. It had houses all around it, except for one side. On one side of the lake, was a strip of woods. It was a hideout. A refuge. I could get to my refuge by foot, and I often did. But many times I would run out, paddle in my boat or raft across the lake and pull up to the bank, then climb onto it before disappearing into the rough. Somehow it seemed more private that way. I spent many an hour locked in conversation with God himself there in that lakeside hideout, away from the world and safe from my troubles. They seemed big to me then, my troubles did, and they seem big to me now. The problem is, I moved thousands of geographic miles away from that refuge. And through the years I lost the mentality. I love this picture on this page because it reminds me of my personal relationship with God and how he always was my personal refuge, just like Psalm 91 says. I am so thankful to God that he gave me that time together with him, that place to hide out as a child. Without it then, I do not know how I would recognize the comfort of His refuge today. There is no lake today. No boat. No woods on a bank to disappear into. But there is so much more. We meet there often. It's the SECRET PLACE for my God and I. . . Enjoy this article by Duane L. Huffstutler, then let me know your thoughts. Do you have a SECRET PLACE?

By Duane L. Huffstutler

Psalm 91

1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. [a]

2 I will say [b] of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."

3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare
and from the deadly pestilence.

4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,

6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.

8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 If you make the Most High your dwelling—
even the LORD, who is my refuge-

10 then no harm will befall you,
no disaster will come near your tent.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;

12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.

16 With long life will I satisfy him
and show him my salvation."

Where is that Secret Place? It is in prayer where you can tell the Lord about anything and it is kept between you and the Lord. You don't have to worry about the world finding out about all your secrets and giving you hard time about them. It is in reading the Word of God. This is where God tells you how to handle each situation and how to live, talk and work. This is how you can become like Jesus and know that he lives in you. It is in the study of the Word of God. This is where you truly understand what is being said and this is also where you become one with the Lord. You begin to trust him with your life and everything that you are and have; knowing that (Romans 8:28) all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Psalms 32:7 states: thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance.

When you can trust the Lord completely he becomes your hiding place and he will take care of everything that comes against you. It is at this point that anything that comes against you must go through him. God is your protector, very similar to a hen and her chicks. If she sees them in danger she will call for them to come to her and will gather them under her wings. She will then die before she will allow anything to hurt her chicks. He is trying to build our confidence in him telling us that we don't have to worry about anything because he is going to take care of it. He then proves it in Isaiah 14:12-20 where Lucifer rebels against God and is cast down. It is then said of him how that people are going to wonder why they were afraid of him when they actually see him for who he is; the one who destroyed everything but has already been defeated.

Isaiah 24:21-23 talks about how the Lord is going to punish those that come against God's people. They will be locked up in a pit and after a time will be found wanting. They will come up short is the judgment. Then in Daniel 10:11-13 talks about how Daniel had been fasting and praying and God had sent and angel with the answer but a prince from Satan's kingdom had delayed him but then Michael the Archangel was sent to take care of the situation and the answer to Daniels prayer got through. Then in Matthew 4:1-11, Jesus was lead into the wilderness to be tempted by Lucifer himself. Jesus defeated Lucifer with the Word of God and submission to the word. First with Man shall not live by bread alone form Deuteronomy 8:3. So Satan threw Psalms 91:11-12 at Jesus and Jesus came back with thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God form Deuteronomy 6:16. The third Satan offered Jesus the whole world and he wouldn't have to die for it but Jesus would have to worship Lucifer and Jesus defeated him with Deuteronomy 6:13 and Deuteronomy 10:20 thou shalt worship the Lord thy God and him only shalt thou serve. Lucifer was defeated again. Need I go on. Every time Lucifer or one of his followers came against Jesus or one of God's children Lucifer was defeated by the word of God and all they had to do was to completely trust in God without question. Why should we doubt God when we can read his word and Satan is defeated at every turn? Matthew 8:28-33, 17:14-18, Mark 1:23-28, 3:10-15, 3:20-27 and it goes on and on. God is going to take care of those that trust him with their whole heart and God will not fail and Lucifer cannot win. It may seem that Lucifer is winning but there are times when God allows Satan the upper hand as in the case of Job, to try his people so that God can bless them for standing strong. Satan can never win the war although some battles are questionable just don't take your eyes off of God and never doubt anything that God allows to come your way it is only to make you stronger not to tear you down. It is to draw you closer to God not to make you fall. It is to help you to trust God more because you are able to witness the miracle at the end. What is a miracle? It is something that is accomplished when there is no logical or man known way that it could have been accomplished. And God wants to do miracles everyday and he wants to bless us everyday. All he wants from us is our undying love and trust. He has already showed us through his word that he can and will do whatever is needed to take care of us.

What is our problem? Why can't we just trust him? He did it in the Bible and the Bible says that God changes not. He is the same yesterday, today and forever that means he can do it now if we will meet his conditions. What are his conditions? To Love and trust him without reservations. Psalms 91:14-16 Love him with your whole heart and he will do the rest. How do I love him with my whole heart? Let's break it down a little more. Have you ever had to do something and your heart was not in it? Maybe like going to work, or a report that you haven't had time to complete because you were not really interested in the topic. You didn't do a very good job on the task. What about making the kids clean up their room? It is usually done half-hearted and seldom up to standards. But when you do something with your whole heart you do it to the best of your ability and everyone knows it. You are not ashamed of the job you have done. In the same line if you do it with your whole heart God will look after you with his whole heart and neither of you will be ashamed. Then God may even show off for you and Bless you in ways you never even asked for. Try him and see. You give him 100 percent and see if he doesn't turn around and give you back more than 100 percent.

MUSTARD SEEDS
Good morning, God! Thank you for this day. Thank you for meeting my needs. I come to You today, asking that You will increase my faith. I want my faith to be as "the grain of mustard seed that can move mountains" and as constant as Your love for me. Please move in my life and strengthen my spirit through Your Holy Spirit. May I be a faithful witness for You, my Lord. In Jesus name I pray, amen.

By Susan Johnstone

Lord, I thank you so much for this quiet country road. As I jog along the dirt amongst the paddocks and trees, help me to appreciate this haven. Help me to think of others who aren’t as lucky to have a safe environment. Please give them inner peace, even in tumultuous times.

Thank you for this quiet time. There’s no sensational news story, no blaring radio or telephone demanding my attention. Thank You for the opportunity to converse with You in peace. And please help others who lead busy lives to find a ‘quiet place’ with you today.

Dear Lord, please help me up this hill. Whenever I feel I can’t make it, help me to rely on you. As you jog beside me and strengthen me physically, please help me to see that you will sustain me in all other areas of my life – mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Please strengthen my sore knee and help me to persevere. And please uphold everyone else with whatever “thorn in the flesh” they may have.

Thank You so much for this easy stretch of terrain. Help me not to forget you when the hard sections are over. Help me not to take the good times of life for granted, and please remind me to rely on you all the time, whatever the circumstances.

Lord, I thank You for helping me to see clearly. Without my glasses, all the fine details are just a blur. But as long as I can see the ‘big picture’ everything’s okay. Help me to keep my eyes on Your larger plan also.

Dear God, I worship you and lift up my praise to you, my Creator and Sustainer. Thank you for showing me the things that bind me on this earth. Open my eyes that I may always be mindful of what may hold me in bondage. Help me to resist the things I should.
